        Holi is an Indian festival and it is celebrated with colors. This festival is known as Color Festival. This comes once in a year in the end of February or between the middle of March. In Odia this month is known as Falguna. This time is the end of winter season. Everyone enjoy this festival by rubbing colors on each other’s face. Some uses dry color (abira), water gun (pichkari) and balloon filled with color to apply on others. People wishes “Happy holi” to everyone and gives sweets to make the bond sweet. In this day people give color on the feet of elders to get their blessings. 

         In Odisha this is the day of lord Krishna and Radha. This day is called Dola purnami. The icon of love Radha and Krishna worshiped in this day. First people give colors and do worship of Radha and Krishna and after that they play with others with colors. In Dola purnima people place the icon of lord Radha and Krishna in palanquin and visit the area to area. Like this people in odisha celebrate the Holi festival. People offer raw mango to lord for worshiping him.

      There are so many stories behind this festival. One of them is about Hiranyakashyapu’s sister Holika. This day she died so that people celebrate this day as the victory of good on evil. To remember this day people do bonfire in night.
